SZTE TTC’s Smart City Solution Reaches Finals in Prestigious EU Innovation Challenge!!

We are proud to announce that the Technology Transfer Center of the University of Szeged (SZTE TTC) has been selected as a finalist in the PilotInn Cities competition — an European Union initiative supporting Smart City innovations across the Danube Region.
The PilotInn Cities program is designed to foster the testing and dissemination of innovative, sustainable urban solutions, with a special focus on smart city developments, enhancing public service efficiency, and promoting social inclusion. A professional international jury selects the most promising solutions and supports their implementation through six-month pilot projects.
This recognition provides an important opportunity for the SZTE TTC's UrbanIntel system to be tested in a real municipal environment — enhancing the project's international visibility and enabling access to further funding opportunities. UrbanIntel is an innovative, scalable, and data-driven energy management system aimed at improving energy efficiency in public institutions and supporting sustainable urban operations and the green transition. What makes our solution truly unique is its ability to operate not only via traditional dashboards, but also through a chat-based interface — enabling real-time, conversational interactions for urban operations. Based on existing municipal data, the system automatically detects inefficiencies and operational anomalies, issues alerts, and provides complex, instant answers to operational questions in natural language. Being selected as a finalist is a key milestone for the UrbanIntel project and a strategic step forward for data-driven, resilient, and intelligent cities in Europe.
